Call To Arms: Lend a Helping Paw
Now that Cataclysm is in full swing, and many of us have been 85 for a while, it's time to turn our attention towards raiding.
Our first raid was a tough battle and a good eye opener to what things are going to be like as we move forward. While it didn't go as well as we all would have liked, one thing stood out to me: Normally, we're all very good with our preparation for raiding, and our characters are in tip top shape. Our sockets are gemmed, our gear enchanted and our food successfully in our bellies. Sometimes though, life intervenes. Maybe you need to bring an alt to fill a role and you don't have the proper flask. You had a rough week at work and couldn't farm out mana potions. Or maybe, you get that phat piece of epic lewt and you can't wear it because in its ungemmed, unenchanted state it's not as awesome an upgrade. It's time to fix all of this.
With the Dirt Dogs conquering Rank 11, we have gained the perk Mobile Banking. That's right, you can summon the DD guild bank from anywhere. So now when your phat lewt drops, it's super upgrade time. Gone are the days of that purple taunting you from your bag because equipping it without a yellow gem disables your meta gem. But there's a problem.
THE CUPBOARD IS BARE!
This is where you come in. We're going to fill the guild bank, and we're gonna do it Staurol style!
I'm announcing the first ever DIRT DOG FARM FEST BATTLE ROYALE! We'll be breaking into teams of three. You choose your two partners and send your team name, along with your fellow team members to me, Staurol. Please do it on the website and not in game. Once your team is established, you will hit the mountains, grasslands, sea floors and ocean shores of cataclysmic Azeroth for all the herbs, ore, fish, and other cooking meats you can get your hands on!
Here's the important part: Send all these mats (from one of the characters listed on your team) to [character:Stroll], my lowbie priest alt. This is only done so I can keep track of who sends in what because we're keepin score! The mats will be then turned into the guild bank to be made into flasks, gems, or whatever else we can make from them.
We're starting small, focusing on cataclysm level herbs, ore, fish, meat and volatile earth and life. However, if this goes great and we make the officers' heads spin from so much stuff filling up the guild bank it will continue .... until I totally go crazy.
Prizes will be awarded for the top teams according to score and to those deemed to have the best team name. The grand prize is something new and guaranteed to make you stand out amongst your fellow dogs. However, we're the real winners, because if you forgot a flask for the raid, or the raid goes longer and you need another, you can summon the guild bank and there will be plenty.
You have until Saturday morning, January 22nd, to gather your friends and come up with a plan of attack. That's the day it all begins. The Royale will last one week, ending Sunday morning, January 30th, whenever I wake up. While the main purpose of this event is to fill our guild bank, I'm imploring all of you to avoid the AH. Please do not buy mats and send them to Stroll. There are several guild achievements for mining ore, herbing herbs, and fishing from pools. While I would love to have the guild bank full, I ask that you farm instead of spending your hard earned gold on the AH so we can knock these out!
Remember, do not put your mats in the guild bank, send them to Stroll so they can be counted!
