What happened to "of the Fortnight"?It went away. we've decided that we're better off just giving the award when someone does something that calls for it, rather than forcing it into a specific time period. You guys can control how frequently it is bestowed simply by nominating your fellow guildies. To nominate someone, send me a PM with details about who and why. What is a Mad Dog?A Mad Dog does something above and beyond normalcy for himself or others. This program is designed to recognize those Dogs who are out there doing things. Especially now that the achievement system is in place, we’re all out there doing truly astonishing things in-game. What do Mad Dogs get?Not fame and fortune, that’s for sure! They get a little write-up here on the site and until another Mad Dog is named, they will proudly carry the Mad Dog rank, and every Dirt Dog who encounters them in-game is obliged to /cheer at them. How do you choose Mad Dogs? You guys have to help. Whenever you see Dirt Dogs acting Mad, send a PM to infamy describing why you think they should be the Mad Dog of the Indeterminate Time Period. A History Of Insanity
Our Next Mad Dog is: KetroNominated by: Paan/Fagall Ketro did something that takes my breath away. Ketro levelled engineering from 1-450 in about four hours. Ketro didn't have any professions, but after hanging around with Antaeus and Chocolataters for a bit, he decided that Engineering looked pretty fun.
Ketro had no professions, but levelled Engineering in a day. I'm going to say that again, to prompt you to ask what I asked: "Where did you get the mats, Ketro?!?" He bought them. Ketro has earned enough gold doing quests and selling orbs and gems purchased with badges to buy all of the mats to level Engineering. I don't know how much gold that comes out to - but that's a LOT of gold. Ketro says that now that he has a parachute cloak and rocket boots, he's really happy with his choice. It all sounds crazy to me. Mad, even. So next time you see Ketro, congratulate him on being our next Mad Dog! Our Next Mad Dog is: AntaeusNominated by: Keles and Datchery We are nominating Antaeus for Mad Dog. Ant is a fairly recent recruit but, he has settled in so well that we can't imagine the guild without him. Friendly, talented and generous, he's made an impact on us all. Sure, he does amazing DPS and his numbers have become a benchmark to which others aspire... but that has little to do with this nomination.
Ant's a team player. He goes out of his way to help anyone and everyone. Need someone for an instance or raid? Ant is there. Need help with quests? Ant is there. Need mats for items or whatever else? Ant is there. He gives a lot and asks nothing in return. He also happens to be one of our more frequent Fish Feast presenters. Questions asked in guild chat never go unanswered when Antaeus is online. Even a "Sorry, I don't have one/don't know/don't have time/am allergic to llamas" is nicer than a silence and Ant always speaks up. Ant is a delight in five-man runs. He's fun, enthusiastic and funny. He livens up vent and makes sure everyone has a good time and gets whatever they need out of the run. We've met few people as eager to help as Ant is. So join us in congratulating Antaeus as our newest Mad Dog! Our Next Mad Dog is: NufoloNominated by: Mirabell Every Dirt Dog is on a journey. A journey to greatness. For most, it’s a long road and we may never see its end. For some Dirt Dogs, however, it’s more of a race track. Through VERY hard work and with some encouragement and a little guidance, it’s amazing what this Mad Dog has accomplished.
Our healers are the best in the game and that can make it hard to stand out. It’s very easy to get lost in a sea of healing waves and flashes of light. Recently, though, we’ve seen one healer in particular emerge: Nufolo. No task is too big, or too small, for Nufolo. Single target, or last healer standing. Whether it's Main Tank healing, or looking after threat happy DPSers, I know that he can be trusted with anything that comes his way. As new as he is to the game, and given how infuriating the world of healing can be, I’m constantly amazed at his skill and awareness. He learned his class very quickly when it came to raids and group healing, and was always open to suggestions. His ability to combine his own observations and the suggestions (some good, some probably bad) of others and weave them into his playing style is one of many reasons he stands out. Healing can sometimes be a thankless job, but Nufolo, we’ve noticed. Thanks for everything, and please please PLEASE keep up the great work. Don’t hesitate to give Nufolo a /highfive or a /patonthebackforallthehardwork next time you see him, and Congratulations to our newest MAD DOG! Our Next Mad Dog is: KeoghNominated by: Fredrick Keogh is the perfect person to receive Mad Dog of the Fortnight. He is someone who has helped guild mates at every level, on runs for people coming up, to healing heroics for new people, to even doing achievement runs for the truly crazy. Keogh rejoined the Dirt Dogs and immediately fit right in, which is a testament to both the Guild, and also the hard work Keogh has put in to prove to others that he can be trusted, and is also very enjoyable to spend time with. He has provided numerous guild mates with potions, flasks, and assistance in order to improve the task at hand. He is a strong member of our community and someone who I am proud to have in my guild. Recently Keogh has provides endless feisty fish feasts to the raid. These feasts not only improve our DPS, but also come at a high cost to Keogh personally in farming and mats. His commitment to putting these out is part of our success and our progression. Keogh has worked hard in the guild and is worth of our respect and that is why Keogh is being made the Mad Dog of our Guild! Our first Mad Dog is: Abrasax.Abrasax is level 78. Abrasax has spent so much time fishing in Dalaran, there's been hardly any time for levelling. Not only does Abrasax have my coveted [Giant Sewer Rat], but he has finished the Dalaran Coin Master achievement. Coin Master , while being partly luck-based, is also a brutal, soul-destroying grind. I know this, because I'm down to my last tiny shard of soul, and I haven't completed ONE of the sub-achievements, much less all three. Congratulations Abrasax. You're insane. Don't forget to /cheer at him, dogs! Our next Mad Dog is: JashooThere's a special force in the universe called jashoo-logic. This is how Jashoo-logic works:
"I hate questing and levelling. So, after being on vacation and getting a late start on Wrath, I'll level TWO characters to 80 in time for raiding in an insane binge of . . . questing and levelling."
Jashoo and Eclise both hit 80 and they've both been to Dirt Dog Naxx runs. And he started a week later than the rest of us! As an added bonus, I put a bug in his ear about the progression plug-in on the site, thinking that he might have time later-on to hack it for Wrath for us. Well, half an hour later, it was done: "I was bored at work." Oh yeah, and remember when he fixed the Chat add-on because Fred was freaking out? Jashoo BEGGED me to demote him to Mad Dog. Nice try. He remains a Big Dog/Mastiff, but he's a Mad Dog at heart. Don't forget to /cheer at him, dogs! Our Next Mad Dog is: BarengerI refuse to call him Holy, much less Yloh. He was Barenger when he joined us and Barenger he shall remain. His name is often mentioned as part of a pair and while I cannot deny my own affection for that partnership nor can I deny how lost we would be without his other half - this time it's all about the Dwarf Hunter with the big heart. I've been impressed by Barenger ever since he arrived. Or almost arrived. People say it was a coincidence, but I truly believe that the karmic power released when I tried to invite him to the guild crashed Eredar. From the moment we finally managed to get him into the guild, Barenger has worked and played hard. He has worked on both of his toons and he knows his classes inside and out. When Wrath released, many of us were first introduced to the new dungeons by the odd blue priest who had them figured out. Most recently, Barenger's BWL and MC achievement run was a huge success and I know that a lot of us were glad to see those fights and experience those legendary bosses. And Orff won the best contest prize ever! I can't wait to see her reward. I know Barenger has a couple more fun events up his sleeve and you're going to love them. At the very least, let's pressure him to get use through AQ40! Don't forget to /cheer at him, dogs! | ||
