Oh by the way, the Dirt Dogs have kicked in the teeth of 25 man ICC.    More to do in the backhalf, including the Ugly Twins, and the Blood Princes.

But for now, enjoy that new boss kill.

Mad Dog: Ketro

Posted by LucreziaJanuary 11, 2010 at 10:16 pm

Our Next Mad Dog is:

Ketro

Nominated by: Paan/Fagall

Ketro did something that takes my breath away. Ketro levelled engineering from 1-450 in about four hours. Ketro didn't have any professions, but after hanging around with Antaeus and Chocolataters for a bit, he decided that Engineering looked pretty fun.

Ketro had no professions, but levelled Engineering in a day. I'm going to say that again, to prompt you to ask what I asked: "Where did you get the mats, Ketro?!?" He bought them. Ketro has earned enough gold doing quests and selling orbs and gems purchased with badges to buy all of the mats to level Engineering. I don't know how much gold that comes out to - but that's a LOT of gold.

Ketro says that now that he has a parachute cloak and rocket boots, he's really happy with his choice. It all sounds crazy to me. Mad, even. So next time you see Ketro, congratulate him on being our next Mad Dog!

A Look Back

Posted by LucreziaDecember 29, 2009 at 1:23 pm

Hi Dirt Dogs,

I just want to say that we’re a pretty awesome guild.  I say that a lot, and I always follow it up by saying that it’s because of you guys.  Every idea or event that an officer creates is guaranteed to take on a life of its own once we set you guys loose on it.

Let’s take a look at 2009, shall we? If I’ve missed welcoming someone – I did my best with our old and new forums and archives. Take it as a sign that I feel like you’ve been a Dirt Dog forever.

January

  • January 4th – Our first Sartharion kill.
  • January 7th – Barenger becomes our third Mad Dog winner.
  • January 19th – Ten man Naxx falls
  • January 25th – Barenger runs one of his awesome old-world raids to AQ40. Everyone but me gets a bug mount.
  • New Dog of note: Antaeus

February

March

  • March 15th – We celebrate the 4th anniversary of the guild with a wicked awesome party and then we kill Thrall, for the hell of it. Black warbears all around.

April

  •  April 3rd – Keogh becomes our fourth Mad Dog winner.
  • Totally updated Noblegarden!
  • April 14th – Patch 3.1: Secrets of Ulduar
  • April 20th – Flame Leviathan welcomes us to Ulduar 25 by dying and giving us loot.

 May

  • Children’s Week ate our brains.  Stupid School of hard Knocks.
  • May 27th – 25-man Ulduar: Furnace Guy, Proto Drake and Guy with Funny voice all die in one night. I like how Ulduar is so behind me now that I don’t remember their names.
  • Good friends from BSS join our ranks: Xecutioner, Vero, Nearika.

June

July

  •  New website!
  • July 23  - Gnome Darts 3 – Dalaran
  • July 25 - Dirt Dog cookout.
  • July 31 – Nufolo becomes our fifth Mad Dog.
  • New Dog of note: Eyemsewhaut.

August

  • August 4th – Patch 3.2: Call of the Crusade.
  • August 17th – Trial Of The Crusader 10-man kills Beasts and Jaraxxus.
  • August 26th – TOC 10-man takes Champions and the Twins.

September

  • Trial Of The Crusader – 25-man starts on the 3rd with the first three bosses dying and ends by the 30th with Anub’arak biting the dust. Nice work for a month’s raiding, Dogs.
  • Antaeus goes from New Dog (see January) to Mad Dog.

 October

  • Pumpkin Carving Contest!
  • October 25th – Decathlon! And welcome to new officer: Mirabell.
  • October 29th – the ten-man team takes down the first two bosses in TOC on hard mode.  Woot!

November

  • November 18th – Next two bosses in hard ten-man TOC fall.
  • November 22-28 – New Holiday! Pilgrim’s Bounty.
  • Speculation about the next patch grows to a frenzy.

December

  • December 8th – Patch 3.3: Fall of the Lich King.
  • December 10th – Icecrown ten-man triumphs over Marrowgar, Deathwhisper, The Gunship Battle and Saurfang.
  • December 13th – Icecrown 25-man triumphs over Marrowgar.
  • December 20th Gnome For The Holidays.
  • Winter Veil – Secret Santa Time!

Thanks for another great year, you guys.  We don’t have any new special events plannd before our next anniversary in March.  But, that’s not long away – and it will be FIVE YEARS – so you know it will be a HUGE party. I’m starting a thread to go with this post – it’s here – please feel free to share your favourite memories from the past year.

Love you all,

Lu.

10 Man Down, 25 to Go

Deathbringer certainly brings about death.   He died a few times now, and I know it took perfect games from the tanks, healers, and DPS to burn this guy to a figgy crisp.  This is only Icecrown phase 1 of four, but its nice to see this guy down.

But with the Holidays in mind, keep your noses clean and come join us for Gnome For the Holiday's this Sunday the 20th!

We're Boned!

Posted by FredrickDecember 13, 2009 at 11:39 pm

The First Boss of Icecrown has fallen to the Dirt Dogs, and the second boss isn't far behind.

Soon the we'll be on our way to the top of the citadel.

Good Work Dogs.  This isn't ToC, and we've got our work cut out for us.

The Feast Of Winter Veil

Posted by LucreziaDecember 6, 2009 at 1:49 pm

Last Friday I opened up my home to all of my friends for my yearly Christmas Cocktail party.  And this Friday just passed was our office Christmas party.  So I'm definitely feeling the season.

The Dirt Dogs take Winter Veil very seriously - this is not some insignificant holiday like Lopo's birthday.  This is a big, important holiday, like my birthday.  I've posted thread about both this year's Secret Santa and Gnome For The Holidays, so go check those out:

Decathlon And Some Big News

Posted by LucreziaOctober 25, 2009 at 10:22 pm
First off - thanks to everyone who joined the Decathlon.  We had about 20 people in the race to level ten.  In the end, Xecutioner ran away with the prize.  Keles surprised everyone by starting late and placing second and Stafletcher did a fantastic job and came in third. Thanks for making this another Dirt Dog success.  We'll be doing Secret Santa over Christmas again this year, plus we'll have another fun winter event in late December.  Stay tuned!

New Officer

We also had a big announcement this evening.  Mirabell has been promoted to officer.  Mira has been running raids and working hard for the guild for a very, very long time. I've always said that he is the best mentor for any member of this guild - his attitude and his appraoch to the game and to life are admirable and we're very lucky to have him.

Mira is a full officer, and can help you with anything that you need. Feel free to go to him if you need adivce, or if you are having a problem - or if you have an idea for the guild.

Haven't we already killed you?

I guess this is technically the third time we've down this boss for the first time.  Thats okay, I don't mind recycling.

An impressive night all around.  Great Attempts, Great Loot, and we have finished the top tier content for 25 man bosses on Normal before Icecrown is realeased.

We still have lots of work to do to prepare, but ToC is fast and easy for the Dogs, and hopefully getting Anoob down will be a weekly ritual.
